As we know that in every job, there are few responsibilities, Business Analysts are also responsible for a few deliverables. A deliverable is any kind of document which is been prepared according to the industrial standards, by understanding the clear business processes after communicating with the customers.
There are different deliverable documents business analysts have to prepare after every phase in the life cycle. There are two types of deliverables. One is Internal deliverable and another is external. After discussing with the customers and stakeholders the first Business analysis plan is a primary deliverable.
Business Analysis Plan: It includes the background of the business, Business drivers, problem statement, vision, scope, dependencies, key roles, and responsibilities, Stakeholder Engagement.
Business Requirement Specification: These specifications include the business domain, problem statement, business use cases, business requirement plan, and business activity plan.
Business Case: It is usually a pictorial representation to understand the business requirement specification and functionality. It decides the implementation approach and makes the picture more clear and broader like who is going to use the application, what are the benefits of the automation processes and manual processes to the organization, how much will be the cost, what are the risks, etc.
Functional Specification: This document clears the functional requirements of the organization. For every functional requirement, business use cases are prepared. Which SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) model is going to be used.
Non-Functional Specification: This document specifies that software requirement, hardware requirement, compliance requirement, performance requirement, interface requirement, etc
The above documentation has to revise as and when it is required. The templates vary from organization to organization. The documentation and deliverables also depend on various factors such as business processes and its complexity, business analysis.
At BA centric we introduce different templates and domain knowledge and case studies to learn more and more about all types of documentation in detail.
