Let us begin this article by clarifying the basic and most important difference between a Business Analyst and a Business Continuity Analyst.
A Business Analyst is someone who helps in the building up a business through analyzing its issues, needs and requirements and also is a communicator to the business stakeholders.
A BCA is someone who saves the company from getting into risk. Even if the company gets into a risk, a Business Continuity Analyst helps the company revive all its lost data and develop recovery strategies for the future.

Now, let’s get into the details and read what exactly do these terms mean and how does one become a BA or a BCA.
BUSINESS ANALYST
As stated earlier, a business analyst is the brain behind a company’s growth in terms of its deals with big companies and other analytical strategies. Good BA skills include leadership qualities, extremely intelligent communicator, planner and a logical thinker who thinks critically in every situation. A good BA should also have the necessary technical skills in computing and of course a sound understanding of the business analytics game plan.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY ANALYST
As stated earlier, a BCA is someone who prevents risk in a company’s business environment. They are professionals who are trained to save the company from any disaster or to help in case of emergency. They analyze the potential risks a company is about to face and chalk out a plan for eradicating the security risk.
Business Continuity Analyst skills include keeping the IT system of any business company up-to-date to prevent any disaster, proper risk planning and its execution in case of emergency and thinking logically if any security disaster takes place.
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree course in computer science or in business is necessary to become a BCA. A degree in Certified Business Continuity Professional or Master Business Continuity Professional can be obtained through the Institute for Continuity Management.
