According to me, a business analyst needs to be a continuous learner and should incorporate the following strengths:
- Documentation skills: This is one of the major strengths of any Successful business analyst: It plays a very important role as they play a very crucial part in the execution of any project successfully right from eliciting requirements from the stakeholder till deployment. Documentation is a very important strength for a business analyst.
- Communication skills: communication skills is one of the key strengths of a Business analyst as it plays an important role right from eliciting requirements from stakeholders, explaining them to the team, getting work done from them in the designed way. The way we express makes the job easier for us.
- Presentation skills: This is also very important skills, it showcases how good and clearly we are presenting the product, requirements and any other related things to the stakeholders while working on a project. This acts as an informative session for stakeholders and for the team also.
- Time management skills: Ensuring the project is completed on time is very important and very essential. Making the team work within the given time is very important, making them understand the time boundary is very essential for a business analyst. Time plays a crucial role in any project to be completed. Understanding its importance is very important.
- Stakeholder Management skills: Managing stakeholders is a very tough task for a business analyst to convince them if any project is delayed. Convincing skills with the stakeholder takes a lot of effort and requires a lot of patience.
- Modeling skills: A business analyst should be able to draw a plan in a simple and understandable manner so that the stakeholders and team could understand the flow of work easily. Doing it with ease is also one of the major tasks for a business analyst.
- Writing Skills: A business analyst should be able to express easily in the form of writing, Documentation is very essential for the smooth running of the project. Every meeting should be documented properly for any future reference.
- Understanding the objectives: Business analyst should be able to understand the objectives of business, requirements clearly as if anything goes wrong in understanding the main objectives, there would be a mess later.
- Active listener: Listening carefully about what is said is very important for a business analyst, it should be done very carefully because if something is heard and something is done, there will be surprises for stakeholders at the end of the project which the stakeholders will not be liking it.
- Should be a facilitator: A business analyst should be able to facilitate meetings with the stakeholders whenever required.
